Scouting for Food Update:

We are pleased to share our plan for conducting the 2020 Scouting for Food drive. As was shared in December, Pick ‘n Save/Roundy’s is moving away from plastic bags and has chosen not to renew their sponsorship of approximately 500,000 bags for the annual Scouting for Food drive. In lieu of this donation, we have explored many options and have secured a partnership to assist in the printing of 350,000 door hangers for distribution this year.

Across the country, many BSA councils have moved from plastic bags to the door hanger model with little to no impact on the amount of food collected. During the first weekend of our drive on Saturday, March 14th, Scouts will place Scouting for Food door hangers on front doors in lieu of plastic bags. The door hanger will ask the home occupants to put food in a bag or container of their choice and leave it on their doorstep the following Saturday, March 21 for collection by Scouts.

Three Harbors Council is grateful to Feeding America for their continued participation in the Scouting for Food drive. We look forward to sharing additional Scouting for Food information during February and March Roundtables. Your unit’s participation will be vital in making this year’s Scouting for Food drive the best yet!
